BUYUSA.GOV -- U.S. Commercial Service

The U.S. Embassy Foreign National Student Intern Program will operate during May through August each year. It offers students the challenge of working in the foreign affairs arena, while gaining experience. Interns can expect to learn and understand the work of a U.S. Embassy agency or office and make meaningful contributions during their internships.

Applicants must:

(a) Be full-time students at an accredited university;

(b) Have already completed two years of university studies;

(c) Be at least 18 years old;

(d) Have a GPA of 2.8 or higher; and

(e) Possess a good working knowledge of English.

An announcement will be posted on the Embassy’s website

Interested students may apply through their respective schools’ administrative offices with the schools’ endorsement, through email to or via post.

Note: Under U.S. State Department policy, student interns are not entitled to receive pay or any benefits and thus will be retained under a Gratuitous Service Agreement. However, they will be covered under workers’ compensation in the event of any on-the-job injuries. No preference will be given to any particular educational institution.
