Appalachian Australian Trade Mission (November 12-16, 2007)

Grow your company’s international business by joining the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) on a trade mission to Sydney and Melbourne, Australia from November 12-16, 2007. Four days of one-on-one business appointments are included, along with market briefings and a networking reception in Sydney, Australia’s largest city.

Why Australia?

• Prices of American goods and services are now more competitive than ever, thanks in part to the Australian United States Free Trade Agreement

• Australia’s advanced, market economy is growing faster than many other industrialized nations, and per capita GDP is on par with major western European economies.

• Market reforms, transparent legal systems, protection of intellectual property, low inflation and proximity to Asian markets are bolstering growth.

• Leading imports include machinery and transportation equipment, computers and office machines, telecommunication equipment and parts, and crude oil and petroleum products.

• Agriculture and natural resources are leading exports, and the country is currently experiencing rapid growth in the mining sector.

• Many other opportunities exist, including markets for goods and services related to Australia's aging population and increasing demand for telecommunications and information technology.

About ARC

ARC is a partnership of thirteen states and the United States government, helping to improve the competitiveness of Appalachia’s small and medium-sized businesses. This activity is sponsored by ARC’s Export Trade Advisory Council and is one of a series of events designed to assist the Region’s export-ready firms as they expand their overseas markets.

Participation Fee - $1,500

Due to the financial assistance of the West Virginia Development Office, participating Appalachian West Virginia companies will receive four days of one-on-one appointments with potential business partners that have been pre-screened and qualified by the mission’s consultants, based in Sydney and Melbourne, for $1,500.  Also included are advance research and market briefings in each location, and a networking reception in Sydney.
