Uruguay has around 100 metalworking firms operating in the local market. Most of the parts and equipment, components and raw material used by this industry, is imported. Many firms of the sector need to invest in new equipment and technology to compete internationally not only with competitive prices, but also with good quality products and services. This report reviews the structure of the Uruguayan metalworking sector from the perspective of its potential for U.S. exports.
