Agriculture plays the most important role in Uruguay’s economic, political, and
social sectors. During the first eight months of 2005, it represented the majority of the country’s exports. Uruguay offers excellent opportunities for U.S. suppliers of agricultural and irrigation machinery, a market in which it has traditionally been the third largest supplier. This report reviews the structure of the Uruguayan agricultural machinery sector from the perspective of its potential U.S. exports.
