BSDA is Europe’s largest defense exhibition held on Europe’s
newest border. The previous edition of BSDA featured 170
exhibiting companies from 21 countries, including 42 from the
USA. Total exhibition space occupied was 25,000 square
meters. BDSA is fully supported by the government of Romania and
the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of
Transportation and the Romanian Intelligence Service and the U.S.
Commercial Service. The exhibition attracted 8,521
visitors, including visitors from 44 different countries. In
addition to the inside and outside static displays, the
exhibition featured on-site aircraft & helicopter
demonstrations (including a twice daily Eurofighter flight),
Special Forces demonstrations, Gendarmerie demonstrations and an

Belgium:
Visit USA Workshop

The Workshop organized by Visit USA in cooperation with
Commercial Service is held annually just before ITB Berlin.
It is known to be the best event for US travel professionals in
Belgium. It gives a unique opportunity to promote USA
tourism regions, products and services to the Belgium and
Luxembourg markets. The workshop is exclusively open to travel
agents and press. The 2008 Workshop showcased 45 exhibiting
organizations and was attended by over 200 travel agents and 15
travel journalists.
Brussels Travel Fair

Brussels Holiday Show is an annual event in Belgium combining
both professionals and consumers. Over 100,000 people visited the
fair. There were 700 exhibitors from around the world
destinations including tour operators, airlines, travel agencies,
coach companies and hotels. The 2008 USA stand was a huge
success. Many visitors already had definite plans and just longed
for more information, others were curious and wanted to learn
more about the U.S. The Brussels Travel Fair is the best consumer
show in Belgium - 65% of the visitors are booking their holiday
after their visit.

In cooperation with the Discover America Committee Finland,
Commercial Service (CS) Finland is in the process of organizing a
Discover America Pavilion at the Matka Nordic Travel Fair on
January 21-24. Held annually in Helsinki, Finland, Matka is
for the travel industry and consumer markets, and is the largest
travel fair in Northern Europe based on number of visitors.
In 2009, almost 86,000 visitors, mainly from the Nordic
countries, the Baltic region, and Russia visited the fair and its
1,181 exhibitors. Matka is an excellent forum for U.S.
companies to display their travel products, meet business
associates, and make new tourism industry contacts in the Nordic
region.

consumers. The first two days are dedicated to the trade,
while the last two days are also open to consumers. BIT

exhibitors from 140 countries BIT is recognized as the largest
market place in the world for the Italian business system.
