Academic Excellence in a California Setting
UC Berkeley Extension’s international programs offer advanced study in academic English, art, business, design and psychology in the San Francisco Bay Area. Students from more than 35 countries attend our programs for academic enrichment in this exciting economic and cultural location.
Benefits of a Certificate
A certificate program provides training and concentrated study in less time than a traditional degree program. A UC Berkeley Extension certificate offers:
English + Academic Study Pathway
The new Intensive Academic English Program offers advanced language preparation for our various certificate and degree programs in the United States. Students can spend three or more months improving their English before moving on to one of our business, art or humanities programs. Internship opportunities provide an invaluable U.S. work experience.
Studying in the San Francisco Bay Area
UC Berkeley Extension puts students in the center of a technology-driven community. Learn in an exciting atmosphere with a culturally diverse population in this top tourist destination.
Intensive Academic English Program (IAEP)
The IAEP provides a thorough foundation in university-level English to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading, academic writing, pronunciation and grammar, as well as a social and academic orientation to life and study in the United States.
Fundamental Studies in Business and Entrepreneurship (FSBE)
This program is designed for students who need a study-abroad experience to complete a degree requirement or simply want general knowledge of business practices. No work experience is required.
International Diploma Programs (IDP)
The IDPs offer short-term, intensive study, and the internship program allows students to apply their knowledge at a U.S. business—all in less time than an M.B.A. program. This program requires two or more years of career work experience.
Evening Certificate Programs
Certificates are available in Business Administration, Counseling and Psychology Professions, Finance, Interior Design and Interior Architecture, Marketing, Project Management and Visual Arts. Courses are offered in evenings and on weekends in San Francisco, Berkeley and Belmont.
College Foundations Program
The College Foundations Program offers qualified international high school students exposure to preparatory and university-level coursework. Students can attend for one or two terms or a full academic year, and all receive personal college admissions advising.
Berkeley Global Access
Designed specifically for our university partners, we invite universities to bring groups of undergraduates to study in Berkeley. This program includes access to the UC Berkeley campus, classes and faculty.
