SCO Ann Bacher hosted a standard meeting for Ms. Elena Mikalis, Asean Affairs Director, Market Access and Compliance and officials of the Thailand Industrial Standards Institute (TISI) during Ms. Mikalis's brief visit to Thailand recently. Joined by Deputy SCO James Golsen, the meeting was intended for discussion on U.S. standards initiatives in Thailand and the Asean region. Invitees from TISI were senior officials handling regional co-operations and standard developments. In fact, TISI invitees were those actually involved with APEC and Asean who have worked with MAC office in past meetings. Thus, the meeting was particularly useful in allowing Ms. Mikalis to explain MAC's standards plan in ASEAN and discuss its upcoming APEC activities. Moreover, the meeting enabled CS Bangkok to better support MAC and CS own activities for the standard initiatives
