• Carrier Ethernet / Ethernet in the First Mile: As carriers are
migrating from legacy TDM (T1/E1) to MetroEthernet services,
there is a need to migrate their services offering base on
today’s installed network. ADTRAN has incorporated Ethernet
throughout our access system solutions, from Total Access 5000
MSAPs that deliver Ethernet the First Mile over Copper and
Ethernet over TDM to Resilient Packet Ring (RPR) such as the
E-Series designed for Metro-Ethernet service. Ethernet sales
easily to Gigabit speeds, making the perfect choice for
converging voice, data, and video applications in turn creating
new marketable and sustainable services.
• Carrier Ethernet - Resilient Packet Ring (for both telco and enterprise): RPR is a SONET/SDH like architecture that target for packet traffic (voice, data and video). It has been standardized by IEEE as IEEE 802.17 standard in 2005. RPR has been deployed worldwide for delivery of critical services not only by leading telcos in Europe & Asia but large enterprise (such as power plant, highway/traffic system) in their private network application.
• Mobile Backhaul / Pseudowire – TDM over Ethernet (focus for both fixed and mobile operators): Pseudowire is a circuit emulation approach to carry legacy (T1, E1) traffic over Ethernet system. It can be targeted to both fixed line and mobile carriers.
