Golf Equipment
In Taiwan the golf equipment market in 2003 amounted to US$171.5 milllion. Golf club sets shared about 30 percent of the golf equipment market and valued at US$ 50-60 million per year, golf balls made up 10 percent with a value of US$17-20 million and other golf equipment comprised 60 percent at US$100-110 million. U.S. and Japan suppliers have dominated the golf equipment sector in research, design and development for decades. Pollution Controls in the Taiwan Paper Industry
Currently, there are 111 paper mills and 2 pulp mills operating in Taiwan. With this growth also comes pollution problems. The first pollution abatement and prevention program started around 1969 when the Taiwan Provincial Water Pollution Control Agency was established. Since then, the local paper industry has developed localized pollution control technologies to prevent and remedy traditional problems, such as water pollution, water reuse, air pollution, solid waste disposal and noise. Even though most pollution control technologies are developed locally, the sustainability of the paper industry still calls for improvements in certain technologies where foreign companies may find a niche market. Intelligent Transportaiton Equipment
