On June 17th The U.S. Export Assistance Center hosted a web-based seminar to introduce Midwest businesses to Panama, which has historically served as the crossroads of trade for the Americas.   Its strategic location bridging two oceans, and the meeting of two continents, has made Panama not only a maritime and air transport hub, but also an international trading, banking, and services center.  Beginning on June 22nd the recorded version of the webinar will be made available upon request.

Nicholas Kuchova, Senior Commercial Officer, U.S. Embassy, Panama, presents an overview of the business climate in Panama.  Learn what sort of opportunities might exist for your business in Panama as well as in the Colon Free Trade Zone, the largest free zone in the Americas and the second largest in the world.

Also, get an update on the Panama Canal expansion project, one of the largest and most ambitious projects in the region.  The cost of the project is estimated at $5,250 million. This project will entail tremendous commercial opportunities for U.S. firms, including maritime equipment; construction equipment; heavy machinery; dredging equipment and services; and engineering and architectural services.

Learn if your company would benefit by participating in a trade delegation to Panama later this summer.  Proposed time frame: late September
