2010 Organizing Committee Invites Prospective Suppliers

Oct img. 1The 2010 FIFA World Cup Organizing Committee South Africa has issued an invitation for service providers and suppliers to register in the Organizing Committee’s supplier database. The key qualifications noted in the invitation for registration are:

  • Relevant experience
  • Presence in the various Host Cities
  • Capacity and competence to deliver goods or services in the areas requested (areas listed below under ‘Goods and Services 2010 Organizing Committee is looking for’)

The published invitation for suppliers to register also notes that any service providers and suppliers who submitted their registration forms in 2006 and during 2007, need not reapply (although some information may need to be updated in the Register).

Oct. img. 2Where and When to Deliver Completed Forms:

The closing date for submitting completed Supplier Registration Forms is October 26, 2007 at 15:00. Forms must be received by that date and time to be accepted.

Forms can be delivered to:

The Procurement Department, 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa Organizing Committee (OC), SAFA House, 76 Nasrec Road, Nasrec Ext. 3, Johannesburg, South Africa.

Alternately, forms can be mailed to:

Private Bag X2010, Mondeor, Johannesburg, 2110, South Africa. (However, this latter option may not be recommended due to possible delays in the mail service.)

How to Obtain Supplier Registration Forms:

There are three ways to request supplier registration forms, either by downloading the forms from the designated website, sending an email request or requesting via an SMS message to a designated cell phone number. Because of the unreliability of international SMS messaging, we recommend the online or email option. (However, all three are described below.)

  1. Dowload forms from: http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/tournament/loc/supplierdatabaseregistrationform-2010oc_20491.pdf
  2. Send an email requesting forms to: suppliersdb@N0SPAM.2010saloc.com
  3. Send an SMS message to: +27-83-2010-146.

Note when you request the forms, be sure to state: Company Name, Company Registration Number, Contact Person and Postal/Email Address. (However, please note that the Organizing Committee states that it will not take responsibility for any postal delay, so email is probably the preferable means to receive the forms.)

Taking Advantage of 2010 Opportunities:

U.S. companies who wish to take advantage of the opportunities afforded by the 2010 World Cup should seriously consider working together with a local partner. Local partners provide in-market knowledge and – if well chosen – can ensure compliance with South African Government initiatives in the areas of employment creation, capacity building and BEE (Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment) – all of which can be advantageous in the tendering process.

The U.S. Commercial Service in South Africa can assist U.S. firms interested in the large range of opportunities currently available in South Africa coming up to the 2010 Cup. We have extensive experience in finding appropriate local partners for U.S. companies.
