This has been a great internship. For those of you who are thinking about a career in international business, the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center internship program is an enormous opportunity. Director George Tastard fine tunes student’s for a career in international business and teaches how to compose oneself in the office. As interns, we are faced with many challenges, trying our best to serve the clients that reach out to us to help them export their products and services overseas.
I was challenged to empower myself, becoming more proactive and self-sufficient while interacting with people from here and overseas. Some of my responsibilities included communicating with clients and Commercial Service representatives from all over the world, creating market research reports, also scheduling and participating in trade events and meetings. In addition, I was in charged of maintaining our website, updating pages and posting events.
My time at the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center has helped me prepare to face the challenges of the changing business environment. The Global Network of Businesses, clients, and entire countries are growing every day. It is our job, as future business leaders, to contribute to the opportunities arising from the international business arena. I feel that I am more than well prepared to take on this task because of this internship.
