Working as an international trade assistant at the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistant Center has been an invaluable experience. Director George Tastard has been an exceptional mentor, who provided constant guidance and opportunity for developing and strengthening business skills and professionalism.
During the past six months, I have gained confidence with working in a professional business environment. In addition, I have sharpened my communication, writing, organization and time management skills, which I will carry with me throughout my professional career.
Working in this atmosphere provides exposure to the expectations and everyday challenges of a real business professional. As an International Trade Assistant, some of my daily activities included conducting market research, communicating with clients and Commercial Service representatives in international posts, attending client consultations and writing highlights and export success stories.
My experience with Mr. George Tastard and the U.S. Export Assistant Center has furthered my desire to pursue a career in international trade and relations.  I highly recommend this internship to anyone looking to gain experience in a fast-paced, hands-on business environment.
