The six months that I spent here at the US Export Assistance Center Sacramento Has been a whirlwind of opportunity. From speaking directly with the President of smaller companies to CEO’s of much larger companies, I believe that I have learned and developed a very important skill set for my life. I have also developed and improved my communication skills, business etiquette, and confidence. I was challenged to empower myself, becoming proactive and self-sufficient in handling a multitude of tasks, especially in a fast-paced international business environment.
Communicating, drafting organizational reports, and creating industry-specific global market research reports gave me a chance to see how international business works by communicating directly with clients and Commercial Service representatives in both domestic and international posts. It was also very encouraging working with a team of fellow interns who are all working towards the same goals as I. We all come from various backgrounds, including two exchange students from Italy. It was both a fun and educational experience.
My time at the Sacramento U.S. Export Assistance Center has not only prepared me for a bright future, but has also helped me develop the tools and specific skills to succeed in International Business and any environment. I would highly recommend this internship to anyone looking to challenge themselves to take the opportunity to find out what it takes to compete in the international arena.
