During the six months of my internship at the U.S. Commercial
Service in Sacramento as an International Trade Assistant, I have
gained valuable skills and knowledge that I will be able to take
with me and utilize in future professional environments.
Director George Tastard has provided me with valuable guidance
and opportunities to gain professional skills and experience in a
fast-paced international business environment. I undertook
this internship looking to gain experience in a professional
environment, and have subsequently left with the desire to pursue
a career in the field of international business.
This has been a great learning experience, and during this
internship I have communicated directly with clients providing
market research, I have corresponded with Commercial Service
posts abroad, and I have had the opportunity to sit in on
conference calls with clients, our overseas counterparts, and
Director Tastard, among many other business activities on a
day-to-day basis. I have also had the opportunity to attend
the Green California and Summit Exposition Trade Show in
Sacramento, and the 12th Annual Consular Corps Luncheon that was
held at the University of California, Davis. This
internship has been a great experience, and I have gained
valuable experience in a highly professional and competitive
field. I highly recommend this internship to anyone who is
looking to gain experience in international business, and in a
highly professional environment.
