My time with the US Commercial Service in Sacramento as an international trade assistant has been nothing but rewarding. Before this internship I did not have experience working in a high- functioning business environment, and was looking forward to the opportunity. Under the guidance of Director George Tastard I have been able to substantially advance my level of professionalism and knowledge of international trade over the past six months.
During this internship I was given such responsibilities as
conducting market research for clients and directly communicating
with them, coordinating with Commercial Specialists in overseas
offices, sitting in on meetings with clients, accompanying
international delegations, and representing the Export Assistance
Center in various seminars and trade shows, including the Green
California and Summit Exposition held in Sacramento.
As a result of this internship I feel more confident conducting
myself in a professional workplace and have greatly increased my
communication skills. These are assets that I will be able
to use in my professional life, regardless of career path.
I firmly believe this internship is a fantastic opportunity for
students and anyone looking for a hands-on approach to the
business world.
