Classroom Learning

New Horizons Classroom Learning(TM) is delivered by certified instructors in a comfortable classroom environment enriched by online resources. New Horizons instructors are constantly re-tested and evaluated by every student in their classes to ensure quality of training and delivery of content. To remain on staff, instructors must maintain a 92 percent or higher overall approval rating.

New Horizons continues to solidify its leadership position in instructor-led training by developing and delivering quality instruction for the largest training segments: desktop applications, technical, English language, and business skills training. New Horizons integrates eLearning components into the classroom environment, including a Web-based version of the course for post-class reinforcement, eCourseware, online archives and hands-on lab experience.

Mentored Learning

Unlike traditional Classroom Learning, Mentored Learning students train at the pace they are most comfortable, using a comprehensive approach to reinforce learning. When students arrive at their center of choice, they are given a pre-assessment. Full evaluations of each student’s skill set will be made to determine the actual starting point and training path required.

Mentored Learning is a proven process that features one-on-one instructor coaching, multimedia ILT courses, and authorized vendor courseware to ensure proper skill development. With Mentored Learning students have their own networked environments, which enable instructors to manage hands-on lab exercises that mirror the professional environment.

After each course, a post-assessment is completed to help gauge knowledge transfer, return on investment and productivity enhancements. Online LIVE Learning

Online ANYTIME Learning

New Horizons Online ANYTIME Learning(TM) is asynchronous, self-paced training for students who prefer a more independent learning method. Students can choose from hundreds of courses covering the same subjects as in Classroom Learning, from high-level technical training to basic desktop applications, English Language, and business skills. Plus, the online courses are completely searchable so if students want to learn a specific skill, they can pinpoint the exact part of the course to view. Application Training

New Horizons offers more than 430 desktop application courses for word processing, databases, graphics programs, desktop presentation and publishing, operating systems, and more. Courses are offered at multiple skill levels (Level 1, Level 2, Level 3), with curriculum that provides practical knowledge in weekday, evening or weekend classes.

Club Memberships

A New Horizons Club Membership allows customers to take a variety of courses for one low price. Club Memberships offer a large selection of classes for either a six-month or one-year period. Members can take a few courses, every course, or even repeat a course, during the membership period. As an added bonus, most course titles include a six-month subscription to New Horizons Online ANYTIME(TM) Web-based training.

English Language

A total of 18 courses within six levels make up the New Horizons English Language Program which is delivered through a blending of online and classroom learning. Each course is comprised of four topic-based units. Each unit covers the following learning areas: listening, reading, speaking and grammar. Within each learning area there are a range of online tools designed to provide students with the pedagogical support needed to effectively and independently work in that learning area; for example, the audio version of written texts, translation, dictionary, visual aids, etc.

Each unit opens with an introductory screen that provides background and an introduction to the topic. This serves to activate the student’s previous knowledge of the topic and to increase motivation and expectations regarding the unit. Following the introductory screen the student chooses a learning area from the unit menu.

  • Listening
    The listening section is designed to enhance students’ comprehension of aural input through exposure to a variety of listening segments (video clips, television shows, radio programs, voicemail messages, etc.)
  • Reading
    The reading section is designed to expose students to different text types (stories, ads, letters, postcards and articles) with emphasis on reading strategies: guessing words from context identifying main idea, keywords, etc.
  • Speaking
    The Speaking section consists of real life dialogues set in everyday situations, with an emphasis on functional language for daily use.
  • Grammar
    The Grammar section introduces the grammatical structures in context and provides practice in them. Animated, humorous examples illustrate the use of the grammatical structures and facilitate their acquisition. Explanations and examples are also provided.

Business Skills

Also referred to as “soft skills,” business skills training covers multiple topic areas, including time management, leadership, communications, presentations, sales and customer service, management, interviewing, negotiating, finance, project management and more. Depending on current skill level and learning needs, New Horizons offers two core business skills product lines.

  • Fundamental Series - This solution is perfect for those professionals who may not have the time to spend in extensive, multi-day courses. These one-day, seminar-based, entry-level courses are offered in two delivery methods, Classroom Learning and self-paced Online ANYTIME Learning
  • Professional Development Series - This award-winning solution includes a set of interactive, high-level courses presented in a workshop format that typically range from two to three days in length.

Post-Class Resources

New Horizons recognizes the impact that having the appropriate tools and resources has on a student’s learning experience. Our Integrated Learning model incorporates comprehensive skills assessments; a choice of training delivery options, such as instructor-led and technology-based training, and client-site training; self-study tools, including Learning Guides, eCourseware, and Web-based tools for online learning; as well as training management services, including online class registration and more, for a learning experience that continues beyond the course.

Many of our Classroom Learning, Mentored Learning, and Online LIVE Learning courses have been enhanced to include access to a variety of Web-based resources. These resources are available to students for six months following the completion of a course.
