U.S. PAVILION AT MAJOR MOTORCYCLE SHOW IN GERMANY
The U.S. Department of Commerce has granted Trade Fair Certification to Koelnmesse, Inc., to organize the official U.S. Pavilion at INTERMOT 2008, the sixth biennial International Motorcycle and Scooter Fair, Cologne, Germany, October 8-12, 2008.
INTERMOT provides a variety of products used by professionals and consumers. The event theme includes all aspects of motorcycles and scooters; trailers and sidecars; motorcycle and scooter engines, components, and accessories; electrical equipment; motorcyclist and scooter rider clothing and gear; machines, tools, workshop and shop equipment; raw materials, semi-finished products, packaging materials, lubricants, transmission oil, and maintenance products; and tourism.
The U.S. agent/organizer, Koelnmesse Inc., with a U.S. office in Chicago, is one of the world’s largest trade show organizing companies. It has other offices in 85 countries.
INTERMOT, the most internationally recognized motorcycle and scooter show in the world (www.intermot-cologne.com), has the support of the DOC’s staff in both the United States and Germany. By supporting this event, the DOC recognizes the capability and exhibition experience of the organizer of the U.S. Pavilion, Koelnmesse, Inc., and the potential of this market for U.S. industry exports. Companies participating in the U.S. Pavilion are provided with an excellent venue to establish or expand overseas distribution, generate sales leads, identify licensing and joint venture partners, find new customers, meet with existing clients, introduce new products, assess the needs of the German and European markets, and evaluate competitors.
The DOC’s Trade Fair Certification (TFC) Program is a cooperative arrangement between private sector show organizers and the U.S. Government. The TFC Program seeks to broaden the base of U.S. exporters, particularly new-to-export and new-to-market companies, by introducing them to key trade fairs where they can meet their export objectives.
