Romania's historic accession to the European Union in 2007
brought with it a number of obligations,
including the need to
comply with EU environmental standards. Compliance will require
Romania to make significant investments in its water and
wastewater treatment infrastructure within the coming decade. In
support of this monumental effort, the United States Trade and
Development Agency (USTDA) www.ustda.gov has agreed to fund a $339,400
feasibility study to assist the development of Tulcea's water and
wastewater systems. The study will evaluate options for
wastewater piping rehabilitation and drinking water disinfection
systems within Tulcea County.
On November 2, 2009 CS Bucharest attended the Signing Ceremony of the contract between Aquaserv and the U.S. arm of the Halcrow company chosen to prepare the feasibility study.
Please note that USTDA looks forward to additional opportunities to work with Romanian project sponsors to develop capacity and infrastructure in ways that will achieve beneficial impacts for Romanian citizens.
