JoAnn Foster Queen

Ms. Queen has been with the Department of Commerce for l5 years, the past nine in the Trade Information Center (TIC).   She is the leader of the TIC’s Western Hemisphere Team that specializes in counseling U.S. companies on foreign trade regulations, market requirements and completion of appropriate export documentation.  Ms. Queen focuses on NAFTA, Canada and Mexico.  Ms. Queen is an expert in helping U.S. businesses understand the North American Free Trade Agreement, Rules of Origin system, and in completing and updating the NAFTA Certificate of Origin.

Ms. Queen organized and developed a NAFTA training seminar (presented in MS, TN, VA, NJ, NY, IL, PA and NH) as well as a NAFTA brochure series and other NAFTA materials to assist U.S. firms.  She has also been the featured speaker on two NAFTA webinars and has written three articles for a technical advice column in Export America: “Pre-Shipment Inspections: Exporters’ Rights and Responsibilities,” “NAFTA Update: Frequently Asked Questions about the North American Free Trade Agreement” and “Classifying your Products for Export.”

She regularly makes presentations to industry groups, trade and professional associations and other government agencies on how the federal government helps U.S. companies export.  Prior to joining the Trade Information Center, Ms. Queen was one of six specialists in the Asia Business Center.
