Session Descriptions
Session 1 09/17/09 – EXPORT MARKET OPPORTUNITIES, EXPORT RESOURCES, INCREASE YOUR PROFITS BY SELLING OVERSEAS
Identify if your product or service has export potential. Learn about exporting statistics and find out what your competition is doing in the global marketplace. Find out about resources available to penetrate your chosen market. It includes an international marketing workbook to assess your company’s export readiness, business goals, and commitment. Start your plan to get into markets you never dreamt possible.
Session 2 10/01/09 – MEXICO AND CANADA OUR BIGGEST EXPORT MARKETS: LEARN ABOUT NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) and DISTRIBUTORS
Translate materials into Spanish and French. Learn about NAFTA and take advantage of the agreement. Identify methods of export. Learn how to market your product – from pricing to promotional strategies. Explore Canada and Mexico and how you can improve your bottom-line quickly in a slow economy!
Session 3 10/21/09 – LETTERS OF CREDIT, EXPORT FINANCING & PAYMENT METHODS
Learn about the financial services of the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Export Import (EXIM) Bank. See how the State Government programs will help when commercial banks are unable to assist your firm. Become knowledgeable in how to move your goods overseas and understand crucial export documentation such as letters of Credit, documentary collections and proper use of open account terms.
Session 4 10/29/09 –U.S. EXPORT REGULATIONS AND CONTROLS. INTERNATIONAL REGULATORY MARKS-CE, CCC, etc.
Learn about U.S. export licensing and controls, various types of insurance and what you need to know about end use of your product to stay out of trouble. Many rules and regulations apply and you need to know how to stay above board in all your international dealings. In Europe it is legally mandatory to comply with the European “CE” Mark. What about Environmental Regulations?
Session 5 11/05/09 - TRANSPORTING GOODS INTERNATIONALLY-RFQ, INCOTERMS, INSURANCE, CARNETS.
This session focuses on moving goods overseas, including packaging and labeling. Have you identified the proper freight forwarder? Also, because documentation is vital to successful international transactions, this course will introduce basic export rules and take you through a step-by-step process of filling out certificates of origin, bills of lading and other important documents for export. Learn about incoterms, documentation, customs brokers and the services provided by freight forwarders.
Session 6 11/19/09– LEGAL ISSUES FOR EXPORTERS, CONTRACTS, PATENTS, INTERNET WEB PAGES
Become familiar with the legalities of exports. Learn about agent and distributor agreements, and international contracts. How to locate agents, distributors and develop joint ventures? What is the legal system in the country you want to export? Do the same laws apply to the internet and online sales? Learn how to do global marketing.
