  • Has about 19 coal ditsricts that contain significant coal deposits, estimated to amount to about two-thirds of a billion metric tons combined in these areas.
  • In 2006, the Philippines' in-site coal reserves stood at 323.3 metric tons, or about a 3% increase from its target.
  • Coal power plants and plants running on imported fuel combined account for about 50% of the total installed capacity of power generation in the Philippines.
  • Domestic coal production is estimated to yield an 11.7% increase in the next 10 years.
