About the Forum
The Department of Commerce plays a key role as a member of the U.S. government team participating in the international negotiations under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCC). As these negotiations move towards a new global agreement on climate change, which could be announced as early as December 2009 in Copenhagen, the International Trade Administration is organizing industry outreach events around the United States to disseminate information on the UNFCCC process and to garner feedback from companies.
Critical topics in the negotiating process include establishing long term goals for emissions reductions, identifying the technologies and practices needed to achieve substantial reductions, and building a financial framework to support these efforts.
If intellectual property rights, research and development, technology sales, carbon financing, energy efficiency, or environmental regulation are important to your business, it’s critical that you are part of this process.
Relevant industries sought for input include – but are not limited to – companies in the energy, chemicals, forestry and paper, metals, and other manufacturing and services sectors.
