The Canal Expansion Project as of today June 6, 2007:
The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has announced a negotiated bid for the procurement of Program Management Services for the $5.2 billion Panama Canal Expansion Project. Due to the relevance and value of the project, this program management contract is considered a key component of the entire Canal expansion project.
The contract entails the design and implementation of a corporate Project Management Information System for the PCA (PMIS-ACP) which will be used for the Panama Canal Expansion Program.
The ACP requires an integrated project-centric management solution that supports, scope, schedule and cost controls, business process standarization and workflows, management of a centralized repository with all project related documents, panoramic view of the corporate project portfolio information, with the objective to improve the overall project management capabilities for the ACP.
The PMIS-ACP contract will include two phases:
Phase 1. Implementation of the core functionality needed for managing the Panama Canal Expansion Program.
Phase 2. Implementation of integration of the PMIS-ACP to ACP's corporate financial and document management system.
