Today's Solutions for Tomorrow's Reality

Today's global challenges require a new approach to problem solving and advancing economic stability.  As such, the United States and India have entered into a new era of bilateral cooperation in the areas of energy security, economic sustainability and concerns over climate change.  The U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service is leading the effort to engage U.S. industry in this important discussion.

Building on the success of the first solar energy trade mission, in March 2009, the U.S. Department of Commerce, in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy, is organizing a highly anticipated 2nd Solar Energy Trade Mission to India from February 14-19th, 2010.  Mission stops will include visits to New Delhi, Chennai and Mumbai.

As a direct result of the first solar trade mission approximately 60MW of solar contracts were awarded with and estimated project value at completion of $252 million USD.  Mission participants can expect to benefit from the continuous efforts of the U.S. Government to open the Indian solar market and enable U.S. firms to capitalize on emerging export opportunities.

Mission Goals: The goals of the second solar energy trade mission are to help U.S. solar technology firms initiate or expand their exports to India.  These goals will be accomplished by providing introductions to potential partners via networking opportunities, the facilitation of policy discussions with central and state governments, and by generating current market research information.  (For more details on mission activities refer to the promotional flyer located under the "Trade Mission Documents" link below.)
