Tuesday, September 29, 2009 - The U.S. Commercial Service and the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Malaysia orchestrated a "California Wine Month Celebration" video wine tasting.  The Commercial Service's Oakland Export Assistance Center (EAC) partnered with the North Bay EAC to recruit three wineries from the San Francisco Bay Area (R&B Cellars and Periscope Cellars) and Napa Valley (Pacific Estates) to participate in this event.  The Commercial Service and FAS in Malaysia recruited wine importers and hotel and restaurant food and beverage managers to taste three varietals from each of the participating wineries.  The welcoming remarks were made by the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia James R. Keith.  Partners for this event included California State University, East Bay, who provided the venue for this program, and FedEx, who sent the wine samples to Thailand free of charge and also covered hospitality costs in Kuala Lumpur.
