December 2007

Certified Trade Mission to Saudi Arabia
December 1-4, 2007
Cities to be visited: Dammam and Riyadh

The Saudi economy is booming, with the U.S. as Saudi Arabia's largest trading partner.  Total bilateral trade with the U.S. in 2006 was more than $40 billion.  As America's 17th largest export market, Saudi Arabia provides excellent growth opportunities for U.S. companies.

U.S. companies have the opportunity to increase sales and revenues in this market by joining the U.S.-Saudi Arabian Business Council (USSABC) and the U.S. Department of Commerce Assistant Secretary and U.S. Commercial Service Director General Israel Hernandez as we lead a delegation of U.S. businesses on a Business Development Mission to Saudi Arabia.

The Mission will assist U.S. participants in the oil and gas, downstream petrochemicals, mining, construction, real estate development, and education sectors initiate or expand their market presence in Saudi Arabia through business-to-business meetings, market access information, and introductions to the business environment.

March 3-11, 2008
Cities to be visited: Accra, Ghana; Lagos, Nigeria; and Johannesburg, South Africa

The U.S. Department of Commerce is proud to announce a timely opportunity to meet business prospects in Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa.  The Assistant Secretary for Trade Promotion and Director General of the U.S. Commercial Service will lead an official U.S. delegation to Sub-Saharan Africa next March.

Ghana, Nigeria and South Africa offer strategic platforms for leveraging business in the burgeoning Sub-Saharan regional market, which encompasses a consumer base of 650 million people.  Out total trade with Sub-Saharan Africa increased 10 percent in the first half of 2007 from the same period in 2006, with U.S. exports increasing by 30 percent to $6.7 billion.  Best prospects for this region include, but are not limited to, products and services in the following sectors: Energy, Health Care, Information Technology, Safety and Security and Telecommunications.
