Wednesday, October 17, 2007 - Oakland Export Assistance Center Director Rod Hirsch arranged a site-visit for a 15 member delegation from the People's Republic of China to AERC Recycling Solutions in Hayward, California.  This Chinese delegation was recruited by Commercial Specialist Wang Yi in Commercial Service Beijing to attend the Water Environment Federation Technology (WEFTEC) trade show in San Diego.  AERC is a nation-wide recycler of fluorescent lighting, batteries and E-waste.  Given China's interest in reducing mercury from their solid waste stream, the site-visit provided a valuable example of California's cutting edge environmental policy and commercial leadership in the recycling industry.
