List of Increased Duties for U.S. Goods into Brazil Published

The Brazilian Government has published the final list of goods which will be subject to increased import duties when originating in the United States, consistent with the authorization received from the WTO Dispute Settlement Body in the dispute U.S. – Subsidies on Upland Cotton (DS 267). The resolution will take effect in 30 days.  Details

Cleveland USEAC to host "Finding Financing for Exporters" Seminar in June.

uscs logo smallThe Cleveland U.S. Export Assistance Center will host a "Finding Financing for Exporters seminar on June 8, 2010, in Independence, Ohio.  The primary mission of the “Finding Financing for Exporters” seminar is, in line with the President’s National Export Initiative, to improve Small-to-Medium sized enterprises (SMEs) access to credit in the wake of the financial crisis by providing a forum for lenders and SMEs to interact directly.  The seminar will feature presentations from invited speakers such as the Chairman of the Export-Import Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland and top level representatives from regional lending institutions, the latter being made available for one-on-one meetings with representatives from attending SMEs.  See the trade events page for details.

SBA Announces Enhancements to Export Working Capital Program

The U.S. Small Business Administration's (sba) Export Express and Export Working Capital Program (EWCP) loans have been enhanced. The Export Express program allows small business exporters to use the loan proceeds for any worthwhile business expense that will increase the company's ability to export. This program has been enhanced to provide participating lenders with a 90% guaranty and a waiver of the up-front SBA guaranty fee through February 26, 2010. The maximum loan amount is $250,000 and SBA provides the lender with a 36 hour turnaround time on Export Express loans.

The EWCP program provides working capital loans to exporters. The SBA provides participating lenders with a 90% guaranty on loans and lines of credit that will be used for producing goods or services for export. The exporter must have an export order in hand in order to receive EWCP funds. The maximum amount is $2 Million. The up-front guaranty fee on this loan has been waived until February 26, 2010.
