Dr. Michael L. Walden is the William Neal Reynolds Distinguished Professor in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences’ Department of Agricultural and Resource Economics and is a specialist with the North Carolina Cooperative Extension Services.  He is widely known for his ability to relate larger economic trends to individual consumers.  Every two weeks, Dr. Walden writes the “You Decide” newspaper column exploring key economic issues, and has authored several books including Smart Economics: Commonsense Answers to Fifty Questions About Government, Business, and Households, Everyday Economics, and Economic Issues: Rhetoric and Reality.  He has published journal articles on a wide array of subjects including, A New Look at Husbands' and Wives' Time Allocation and Dynamic Revenue Curves for North Carolina Taxes.  Dr. Walden received his Ph. D. from Cornell University in 1978.
