A Seminar Series to Provide Your Company with the Tools to be Competitive in the Global Marketplace!

You are invited to participate in an eight-week, export-training seminar designed to provide you and your company with the basic tools to initiate or expand into international markets.  The U.S. Commercial Service Export Assistance Centers in Charlotte, North Carolina and Columbia, South Carolina, the NC Department of Commerce, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and the NC District Export Council http://www.ncdec.us   are conducting this program.

 When? The classes will meet each Tuesday from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm, beginning Tuesday, September 28, ending Tuesday, November 16, 2010. 

 Where? The classes will be conducted at OKUMA USA, Partners in Thinc facility at 12428 Sam Neely Road, Charlotte, NC 28278.  Partners in Thinc is part of Okuma USA, http://www.okuma.com/home.html. What Will Be Taught? 

  • International Risk Assessment.  Where are the hot international markets.
  • Methods of Payment (invite your comptroller, or financial officer)
  • How to use Letters of Credit and/or export credit insurance.  Pitfalls and Benefits.
  • Incoterms - Major changes will be implemented in 2011.
  • Harmonized Tariff Codes - Learn how the U.S. Department of Commerce can help you identify best foreign markets for your products.
  • Role of International Freight Forwarder - Learn more about the costs of logisitcs.
  • Developing an International Marketing Plan and quoting to foreign buyers
  • How to get started with the Export Licensing process, if needed.
  • How to use the U.S. Department of Commerce offices overseas to find foreign buyers
  • How to use a Foreign Trade Zone in the export process.
  • Attendees will have the opportunity to meet District Export Council members on Nov. 16 http://www.districtexportcouncil.com/members to discuss export issues.

Who Should Attend?  Companies that are currently exporting but need guidance to further expand overseas markets and sales.  Companies that are new to exporting and need the tools to begin and avoid costly mistakes.  Sales, Finance, Logistics, Planning and Marketing staff will all benefit.

All training materials, presentations and books, in both paper and digital formats, will be given to students.
