North Carolina District Export Council (NCDEC)
Our Mission:
The NCDEC contributes to leadership and international trade expertise to complement the U.S. Commercial Service's export promotion efforts through counseling businesses on the exporting process and conducting trade education.
For the past 25 years, DEC's have served the United States by assisting companies in their local communities to export, thus promoting our country's economic growth and creating new and higher-paying jobs for their communities. Closely affiliated with the U.S. Commercial Service's Export Assistance Centers (USEAC), the 56 DEC's combine the energies of more than 1,700 exporters and private and public export service providers throughout the United States and other export support partners to assure quality of its services.
The North Carolina District Export Council:
- Encourages exports that strengthen individual companies, stimulate economic growth, and create jobs
- Coordinates activities with the North Carolina Export Assistance Centers and numerous trade assistance partners
- Volunteers its time and expertise to educate and promote awareness of export trade opportunities
- Seeks opportunities to promote greater export activity at the local level.
NCDEC PROGRAMS & ACTIVITIES
HELPING EXPORTERS IN THEIR LOCAL COMMUNITIES:
- Sponsor/participate in trade activities
- Provides expertise to small and medium-sized businesses interesting in exporting
- Sponsors international trade seminars
- Provide mentoring programs and tools to help firms access trade opportunities
- Support export recognition awards
- Assist international buyer delegations
- Educate non-trade community about benefits of international trade to U.S. and local economy
WORK WITH EXPORT U.S. ASSISTANCE CENTERS:
- Aide Export Assistance Centers (USEAC) by providing guidance on international programs to better serve the local business community
- Host outreach meetings to assess local exporter needs
- Support national export initiatives
ADVOCATE FOR SMALL & MEDIUM EXPORTERS:
- Identify and evaluate national and international issues that affect trade and offer constructive suggestions
- Provide forums for export community feedback on national trade issues such as PNTR, WTO, NAFTA, and the Free Trade Americas Act (FTAA)
- Address national trade policy issues and educate the political and business community on these issues
