BAJAMAK 2009 Industrial Trade Show - Mexico Business Opportunities in Manufacturing
BajaMak is a regional trade show created to promote the supply requirements of the manufacturing industry located in Baja California and Northwestern Mexico, as well as products and services from specialized providers. BajaMak is divided into five pavilions in the aerospace, automotive, medical, metal-mechanic and electronics sectors, where leading industries will exhibit their supply and service requirements. BajaMak will also host a pavilion for shelter and outsourcing companies, software developers and a green pavilion.
During the 2008 edition of BajaMak, 45 maquilladora buyers and 180 supplier companies exhibited with 2,300 people in attendence. With a population of approximately 3.2 million and an annual growth rate of 4.15%, the State of Baja California is Mexico’s leading producer of television and computer monitors, with an estimated production of 19 million units in 2008.
Tijuana, where the BAJAMAK Industrial Expo takes place, is a hardworking community with more than 47 years experience in off-shore manufacturing. Tijuana has more maquilladora manufacturing plants than any other city in the country, with over 919 and approximately 250,000 workers. Maquilladora companies in the electronics sector account for 30% (directly or indirectly) of the total number of assembly plants. A large percentage of these companies are firms form Southeast Asia and the U.S.; among them Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Daewoo, Hitachi, Hyundai, Honeywell, JVC and others.
