Student Internships
Do you want to learn more about international trade and gain work experience that can provide an essential edge for entering the job market? If so, you may want to consider an internship with the U.S. Department of Commerce at the New Orleans U.S. Export Assistance Center. Many of our interns have received credit hours for their work with us, please check with the career counselor at your university to confirm. The internship is uncompensated. Each student selected for the internship must pass a background investigation, which typically takes 6-8 weeks to process and must be completed before the start of the internship.
Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- Active full or part time Graduate or Undergraduate student (all majors accepted)
- Available to work 16-32 hours per week for a period of 4-6 months
- Excellent interpersonal & writing skills
- Must pass a background investigation
Responsibilities:
- Attend trade shows, events and client meetings
- Conduct international market research, statistical research and client case studies
- Assist with the coordination of trade missions and visiting foreign delegations
- Create marketing and promotional material
- Draft correspondence to clients
- Organize and promote trade events and seminars
- Update client databases
- Many other opportunities
