Mountain West Trade Mission to Mexico
Mexico is the second largest market in the world for U.S.
exports. Given the magnitude of trade between the United States
and Mexico, there are abundant opportunities for U.S. firms in
Mexico.
The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which was
enacted in 1994 and created a free trade zone for Mexico, Canada
and the United States, has resulted in approximately $367 billion
of annual trade between the two countries, more than 1 billion of
trade per day.
The U.S. Commercial Service offices in Utah, Idaho,
Montana, and New Mexico and the District Export
Councils in Utah, Idaho, and Montana with the
full support of FedEx and Zions Bank are organizing a trade mission to
Mexico February 22-25, 2010.
Itinerary:
Feb.22: Arrive in Mexico City, pre-mission briefing, no-host dinner
Feb.23: One-on-one business mtgs., reception
Feb.24: Travel to Monterrey
Feb.25: Breakfst commercial briefing, one-on-one business mtgs.

Pricing:
Participation only in Mexico City: $885 per company.
Participation in Mexico City and Monterrey: $1,700 per company.
Rate for participants from companies with over 500 employees will be higher.

• Applicant’s potential for business in Mexico
• Applicant company must be incorporated in the United States
• The product or service must have at least 51% U.S. content
Mexico City is one of the largest cities in the hemisphere and the world. Not only is this city of 20 million people the seat of government, the capital is also Mexico’s financial center, a manufacturing and distribution powerhouse and is centrally located in a major industrial area that includes Toluca, Puebla and Queretaro.
Monterrey is home to Mexico’s 10 largest conglomerates. Strategically situated on the principal industrial corridor connecting the US with Mexico’s interior, Monterrey is a key distribution center in addition to being a manufacturing heavyweight that includes major industries such as glass, steel, autos and cement. Monterrey is also known for its “North American” culture and openness to business.

In addition, Mexico's National Infrastructure Plan announced by President Calderon in July 2007 includes over 300 projects in the power, oil and gas, airport, ports, environmental, road transport and other sectors. Projects are open for U.S. company participation, and provide solid opportunities for the supply of goods, services, and technology.
