The European plastics industry’s turnover is estimated to be at least USD 350 billion per year. The strength of the Euro gives a competitive advantage to U.S. companies. Find out if your company has an opportunity in the EU!
• Germany is the largest EU plastics market. U.S. plastic materials imports to Germany have shown steady growth, which is expected to continue throughout 2008 and beyond with estimated growth rates of 5-8%.
• France is one of the main actors in Europe and offers niche-market opportunities to U.S. companies. Innovative plastics are contributing to the growth of a large number of French business sectors. Additives, high performance plastics, bioplastics, biodegradable plastics, nanocomposites, and wood plastics-composites all have good market potential.
• Italian domestic plastic machinery production amounts to USD 6.6 billon. U.S. exports for this segment of the Italian plastics sector increased by 27.8 % in 2008 (especially for parts of extruders and other molding machines).
