Official visit at Motorola, in Turin
|
|
On October 18, Ambassador Ronald Spogli and
Consul General Daniel Weygandt visited the
Research and Development Center established by Motorola
in Torino. The visitors were hosted by Motorola
Italy's President and Managing Director, Massimo Gotti
(left in the picture), and by the Managing Director of
the Research Center, Massimo Marcarini. The R&D
Center is an important part of Motorola's global
chain of innovation centers that contribute to the
development of software and hardware solutions. The
Torino center, established just a few years ago, is
one of the best examples of a U.S. company that is
investing in R&D in Italy and of
enterprise-university-local government cooperation. The
Center now employs some 400 full time staff, many recruited
from local Italian universities such as Torino
Politecnico, among others. During the visit, the
Ambassador was also interviewed by the Piedmont Regional TV
Channel 3.
