Who we are
The U.S. Commercial Service is the trade promotion unit of the Department of Commerce, International Trade Administration.
Our Mission
To promote the exports of goods and services from the United States, particularly by small and medium-sized companies and to protect U.S. business interests abroad.
What we do
The U.S. Commercial Service assists U.S. companies entering the Israeli market by providing them with the following services:
- Industry specific market research reports
- Trade facilitation services
- Introductions to qualified importers and distributors
- Counseling and advocacy support
Who is eligible?
In order to participate in this program you must meet the following qualifications:
- Clear a U.S. Government security check prior to starting your internship.
- Currently be pursuing an undergraduate degree in business studies at an accredited university or institute of higher education
- Fluency in Hebrew and English
- Good communication and computer skills
- Flexible work schedule

What is the role of the Intern?
The primary role of the Intern is to provide research assistance for one of the four Commercial Specialists in the office who each have responsibilities for a number of industry sectors.
What are the major duties of the Intern?
The Intern will be assigned to one of the Commercial Specialists for the purpose of preparing in-depth market research reports. The Commercial Specialist will be responsible for providing the Intern with the tools, guidelines and supervision necessary to successfully complete the project. This includes the following tasks:
- Prepare proposal on sector or sub-sector
- Identify research resources and methodology
- Determine research approach – entails economic forecasts and scope of basket of products covered.
- Report structure and format
- Timeline for project completion
Payment and Insurance
This internship is a volunteer service. Federal regulations prohibit financial compensation. An official letter of recommendation will be provided. No federal government liability is assumed.
