
The U.S. Commercial Service Dublin hosted a Visit USA Committee Ireland meeting on March 6 which was attended by 20 local and foreign members comprising of airlines, tour operators, destinations and attractions. Attendees included Florida Space Coast, Kansas, Las Vegas, Massachusetts, New York, St. Petersburg/Clearwater, Oklahoma and Orlando. The Visit USA Pavilion at the Holiday World Show in January and in particular the first-ever Media Marketplace were reviewed and deemed a success resulting in extensive print and radio exposure for Visit USA destinations. Commercial Specialist, Finola Cunningham provided a market and statistics update.
Since the beginning of 2013, industry sources have reported a significant increase in forward bookings with some destinations recording a 20% surge in reservations compared to the same time last year. The U.S. Commercial Service will continue to support the Irish market for U.S. travel and tourism services through Visit USA and other industry promotional activities during 2013.

The U.S. Foreign Commercial Service supported the USA Pavilion at the Holiday World Show in Dublin on January 25-28 and welcomed more than twenty exhibitors for destinations, attractions, airlines, hotels and cruise companies from the United States.
The US Embassy Chargé d'affaires, John Hennessey-Niland, performed the official opening of the USA Pavilion and toured the booths along with staff from the Commercial Section in Dublin.
