The Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy, Tokyo is pleased to announce that we will organize a USA Pavilion at BioJapan 2007, to be held at the Pacifico Yokohama on September 19-21, 2007.

BioJapan is one of the most prestigious biotechnology events in Japan. Organized by the Japan Bioindustry Association (JBA), BioJapan will feature, in addition to our USA Pavilion, exhibitions, seminars, partnering opportunities and other hospitality events.

The Japanese biotechnology industry has been making remarkable strides. In fact, the industry's rapid development is a result of the close cooperation among Japanese public and private sectors.  The Japanese government has been providing considerable support to foster this industry and academia has also played a significant role. The market size of the Japanese biotechnology industry in 2005 was $16.8 billion, a 3 percent growth rate over the previous year. While the Japanese food, agricultural and IT sectors continue to expand their biotech related activities, Japan's pharmaceutical sector is especially active. The relationship between Japanese pharmaceutical companies and biotech venture companies is becoming closer through strategic partnerships and collaborative research.

Our USA Pavilion will showcase the depth and variety of the U.S. biotech industry. With ample booth space and a USA Pavilion catalog, U.S. exhibitors will be able to meet with potential business partners in a comfortable and professional setting.

Participation Fee:  US$ 5300 (¥ 570,000)

This Participation Fee Includes:

  (1)      Exhibit Booth: Each participant will have a completely furnished 3 meter (9.8 feet) x 3 meter (9.8 feet) booth including corporate identity sign, two lamps, one reception counter, one round or rectangular table and two chairs;

  (2)      Exhibitor Mini-Catalog: Each participant will be featured in the exhibitor mini-catalog for the USA Pavilion which will be distributed during the show;

  (3)      Promotion: Exhibitors will be featured in pre-show promotional activities by the U.S. Embassy Commercial Service Japan, promotional ads and company website links on our website;

  (4)      Hospitality Event: The Commercial Service will host a cocktail reception during the event.  All pavilion exhibitors will be invited to attend.

  Optional Events: 

  a. Sponsors' Seminar

Presentations at the Sponsors' Seminar will provide participants with opportunities to find business partners for new alliances, joint research and distributors.  The seminar will be held concurrently with the exhibition.  The capacity of the symposium room is approximately 120 people, with each symposium slot being 90 minutes in duration.  The fee for the 90-minute presentation is US$7000 (¥750,000).  Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

  Presentations at the Sponsors' Seminar will be ideal for U.S. companies/organizations wishing to promote their products/services to the widest possible audience.

  b. Business Partnering Event

The Business Partnering Event will offer start-up companies, venture capitalists and potential licensee opportunities to find business partners for new alliances.  The Business Partnering Event will be held concurrently with the exhibition.  The capacity of the Business Partnering room is approximately 50 people, with each presentation slot being 20 minutes in duration with a ten-minute question & answer session.  The fee to give a presentation is US$1600 (¥170,000).  Simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

  The Business Partnering Event is ideal for U.S. companies/organizations wishing to make focused, technical presentations to a professional audience.
