China: Meet Delegation of Automotive Industry Leaders from Chengdu, China - Automotive Hub

Automation Alley, Friday, November 7, presentations from 1:30-3:30 p.m. and networking 3:30-5:30 p.m.

We are honored to receive a delegation of 18 visiting automotive sector representatives from Chengdu, China, led by Ms. Chen Ling, Senior Commercial Specialist and Automotive Team member with the U.S. Consulate in Chengdu. The delegation includes companies involved with automotive & motorcycle parts production, aftermarket products, maintenance, etc.

The November 7th networking portion of the program will start at 3:30 PM and conclude at 5:00 PM. It will include introduction of the Chinese delegation, a description of services available to help Michigan companies pursue business contacts in China, and a networking session from 4 PM to 5 PM. There will be tables available to display company marketing materials, and Detroit Chinese Business Association members will be on hand to help translate.

A limited number of US company presentations to the delegation will take place from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM.  There will be an opportunity for a limited number of US companies to make 20 minute powerpoint presentations to the delegation, with the assistance of DCBA translators. The Chinese Automotive Market ...

  • China is now the 2nd largest automotive market in the world
  • an estimated 10 million new vehicles will be sold in China in 2008
  • there are approximately 100 OEMs with 40 producing passenger vehicles in China
  • Chengdu has a comparative advantage in the automotive industry in western China
  • there were 16 whole vehicle makers, and 120 parts makers in Chengdu at the end of 2006
