Security is held in Essen, Germany every other year. It is the largest and most comprehensive show in the world on security products, equipment, and services with a truly international character. The show is complemented by lectures, a "Security Congress" and forums on classical subjects - like dangers caused by the Internet, civil security research and future trends in security technology. Special themes covered during the last edition included "Technology Against Terror" and "IT Security”. The 17th SECURITY, global fair for security and fire protection in 2006 attracted 40,600 trade visitors from 56 nations. The proportion of foreign companies amongst the record figure of 1,036 exhibitors from 48 nations rose to 42 percent.
