Institution Name and Profile:
The New York Film Academy was founded in 1992 on a belief that a top quality education in filmmaking should be accessible to anyone with the drive and ambition to make films. The Academy offers intensive, hands-on workshops in filmmaking, acting for film, producing, screenwriting, 3D animation, digital filmmaking, editing, and music video production at our schools in New York, Universal Studios-Los Angeles, St Catherine’s College in the University of Oxford, Disney-MGM Studios-Florida, Harvard University, Princeton University, Florence, Italy, and Paris, France.
Description of Featured Studies:
The Academy offers intensive hands-on programs in filmmaking, acting for film, producing, screenwriting, and 3-D animation. The course length ranges from one week to one year. Most of our programs have open admissions and do not require previous experience, however they all demand passion, commitment, and drive. Our workshops challenge students to develop their creative skill to the fullest extent possible. Traditional film schools often delay the moment when students get their hands-on the cameras and actually make movies.
At the Academy you will learn by doing from day one. Whether you enroll in a four-week filmmaking workshop or our one-year film directing program you will write, shoot, direct, and edit your own short films. Your teachers will demystify the craft of film production and challenge you to master the art of visual storytelling.
Unlike many acting schools, our programs are integrated within our film school. Our acting school combines traditional training with consistent exposure of working in front of the camera. Whatever the craft, the New York Film Academy holds that audiences respond to cinematic wizardry only when it serves the story, when the actors and characters are compelling, and when the filmmaker integrates the magic with the meaning.
Objective:
The New York Film Academy was designed for a new generation of filmmakers, screenwriters, actors, producers and animators who share a passion for motion pictures and want to learn by making their own projects in a hands-on, intensive program. We are not only a New York film school, we are international, with programs all over the world and an incredibly diverse student body. We try to strenghten this philosophy by getting more students world wide.
