Croatian Telecommunication Services Market
Industry Sector Analysis
Croatian Telecommunication Services Market - Summary
The Croatian telecommunications market enjoys a highly developed infrastructure and is facing complete liberalization in 2005. Mobile communications are the most developed market segment with penetration rate estimated at as high as 62 percent, while Internet penetration laggs behind with penetration of only 18 percent. Broadband services are not yet widely accessible – DSL is available only in major cities, and Internet access via cable TV infrastructure is offered only to a limited number of cable TV subscribers.
The Croatian Government announced an upcoming tender (no date specified) to award three UMTS licenses and the third GSM license by the end of 2004, which offers a unique opportunity for new vendors to enter the market.
In 2002, Croatia imported USD 208 million of telecommunications equipment.
