The U.S. & Foreign Commercial Service (FCS) is a part of the U.S. Department of Commerce, a federal agency overseas that supports U.S. states looking for investment, tourism and trade opportunities. Launched in March 2007, the Invest in America initiative is the primary U.S. federal government mechanism to manage foreign direct investment promotion. However, if a Chinese citizen is interested in opportunities in the United States, they need to identify which State(s) fit their objectives.

International investors and visitors might be overwhelmed with the wealth of possibilities available in the United States. Therefore it is common practice to seek a U.S. partner or consultant to assist with navigating the U.S. market (see our AccessAmerica Directory). Another resource available is the FCS list of American trade shows (Tradeshow America) designed to help Chinese companies source, distribute or purchase U.S. products.

Every year, U.S. states, counties and cities and even U.S industry associations, send delegations to China to promote trade, investment and tourism to their region. Our FCS China office supports these trade and tourism missions. To further assist the Chinese investor navigate the U.S. market, we provide a contact list of all 56 states and territories in alphabetical order. In addition to supporting the trade missions, FCS aims to provide a comprehensive resource list of investment, trade and tourism opportunities for states, counties and cities across the United States.
