Event Summary:

PGA2005 - 1The U.S. Commercial Service in Beijing and Capital Asia International Management Co., Ltd. organized a U.S. Pavilion at the PGA Show Asia – 4th China International Golf Expo 2005 held June 10 – 12. Twenty U.S. companies exhibited in the U.S. Pavilion for this U. S. Department of Commerce certified show.

Commercial Officer Eric Wolff and Commercial Specialist Shen Yan worked with the U.S. Pavilion exhibitors throughout the entire show to match them with the appropriate Chinese distributors and end-users, provide market briefings, as well as to assist with some logistical details. During the three-day event, many U.S. Pavilion exhibitors obtained valuable trade leads.

PGA2005 - 2Also at the show, US Embassy IPR Attaché Mark Cohen and Commercial Officer Eric Wolff hosted a seminar on intellectual property rights (IPR) issues in China related to the U.S. sporting goods industry. Mr. Cohen gave a briefing on recent IPR developments in China, provided a read-out of the May 26-27 US-China JCCT IPR Working Group meeting in Washington DC and led the discussion on next steps for the sporting goods industry in China.

PGA2005 - 3The U.S. Pavilion participants were very satisfied with the services and assistance CS Beijing provided during the show and gave high scores to the Commercial Service on the return surveys. For example, Scott Ferrell, president of the Gary Player Design, stated: “I am very satisfied with the services Commercial Service provided and am very impressed with the Embassy’s interest in our success with the show. I hope to maintain contact for assistance as we do business here in the future”. Currently, at least one export success story can be attributed to the PGA Asia show.
