Beijing Municipal Planning Commission Public Notice of Soliciting Landscape Design Plan of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone and Invitation for Pre-qualification
The following information was announced publicly on Monday, July 21, in Beijing:
As entrusted by Beijing Municipal Government, Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, Chaoyang District Government, and Beijing Landscape Bureau will jointly organize the soliciting landscape design schemes of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone, and intend to invite worldwide excellent design companies, firms or joint ventures fully experienced in urban planning, landscape planning, and environmental protection engineering to pre-qualify for submitting landscape design schemes of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone in Beijing. This pre-qualification is intended to select 8 independent participants or joint ventures to submit landscape design schemes of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone.
A Working Group, jointly established by Beijing Municipal Planning Commission, Chaoyang District Government and Beijing Landscaping Bureau, will be responsible for the routine duties of the soliciting landscape design schemes of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone.
I. Project Brief

4.Plot area:
Olympic Forest Park: 700ha
Central Zone: 169ha
The Study area: 62ha, including:
A. Park of the Historical Heritage of the Capital Wall of Yuan Dynasty,
B. National Stadium,
C. The areas 50 m within the property line on both sides of Zhongzhou Road, and the area 50 m within the property line to the south of the Forth Ring Road.
5. Design purpose:
A. Develop the Forest Park and the Central Zone into a public center that will possess first-class landscape effects, fully reflect the significance of the Olympic Green on the city’s central axis, meet the special demands of the Olympic Games, and satisfying the multifunctional cultural demands of the citizens for long by extending the concept and following the general layout of the overall planning of the Olympic Green; and
B. Build the Forest Park into a green ecological belt, which, as part of the green defense between the city proper and the fringes of Beijing City, will improve the local environment and climate.

The pre-qualification documents are available to interested applicants as follows from July 22nd to August 1st 2003.

VI. The Deadline for Submission of Applications
Applications for pre-qualification shall be completed by the Applicants as required in the pre-qualification documents and faxed, before 16:00 on 2nd August 2003, to the fax number and person as follows:

VII. Other Matters
1. Each Applicant shall only participate in pre-qualification for submitting the landscape design schemes of the Olympic Forest Park and the Central Zone singly by himself or as a partner in a joint venture.
2. The pre-qualification, including the pre-qualification per se and any documents relating thereto, shall be governed only by the applicable laws of the People’s Republic of China.
3. All correspondence and documents related to the competition exchanged by the Participant and the Organizer shall be written in Chinese and English. In the event of any discrepancy between Chinese and English versions, the Chinese version shall prevail.
