Exhibition and Conference on China Shipbuilding Technology and Ocean Engineering 2009

China has seen rapid development of its shipbuilding and marine industry over past few years. The central government’s 11th five-year plan (2005 to 2010) pointed out that the key to strengthening the shipping industry lies in design capability, marine equipment supply, large-scale shipbuilding construction, and optimizing the three main ship types: bulk-carriers, oil tankers, and container vessels. Emphasis will be put on hi-tech ships, new ship designs and ocean engineering equipment, which have additional added value. In February 2009, China’s State Council approved a stimulus package for the country’s shipbuilding industry. According to the plan, the government will encourage financial institutions to expand financing to purchasers of ships and extend fiscal support for domestic buyers of long-range ships until 2012. The plan will also support the industry in upgrading technology and self innovation. China urgently needs hi-technology, machinery and management for the shipbuilding industry.

“The 2nd China International Exhibition on Shipbuilding Equipment, Ship Design & Manufacturing Tech” and “China International Exhibition on Ocean Engineering Technology and Equipment 2009”, co-organized by China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry and Shanghai Association of Shipbuilding Industry, supported by China State Shipbuilding Corporation(CSSN), local associations, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, China Ocean Engineering Design and Research Institute and Shanghai Shipbuilding Technology Research Institute, will be held in Shanghai Mart from July 23rd to 25th . “Summit on Development of Shipbuilding Industry and Ocean Engineering” will be held in Rainbow Hotel Shanghai at the same time.
