China International Consumer Electronics Show (SINOCES)---7/1-7/4, Qingdao

Event Summary: SINOCES2005-1

The U.S. Commercial Service organized a U.S. Pavilion at the 4th China International Consumer Electronics Show (SINOCES 2005) from July 1 – 4, 2005 in Qingdao, China. CS-Beijing sold 18 booths to 5 U.S. companies who exhibited in first ever U.S. Pavilion at this event in China. The Show was very successful and exhibiting U.S. companies all expressed satisfaction with their participation.

SINOCES2005-2Exhibitors in the U.S. Pavilion included both new to market US companies as well as companies with a pre-existing market presence in China. The U.S. Pavilion exhibitor displayed a complete array of U.S. products, components and technologies in the consumer electronics and home appliance sector. Displaying their products in the U.S. Pavilion gave them an excellent chance to maximize the results of participating in SINOCES given the massive amount of traffic the Pavilion generated. A contributing factor to the ‘buzz’ surrounding the U.S. Pavilion was China Vice Premier Wu Yi’s visit to the Pavilion. Minister Counselor for Commercial Affairs, Craig Allen, showed Vice Premier Wu Yi around the booth, including a stop at Apple Computer, one of the Pavilion exhibitors. Vice Premier Wu Yi’s presence at the U.S. Pavilion attracted unprecedented attention, and media coverage. According to feedback from the participants, success was almost universal. At least one company reports making sales directly from its booth while also signing local agent; one company has developed a pending licensee; one has pending sales and potential distributors; and most of them developed valuable contacts through the show. All of them expressed high appreciation for the Commercial Service’s support and rated our service as outstanding.

SINOCES2005-3A series of events arranged by Commercial Service served to make the U.S. Pavilion exhibitors feel welcome and valued clients. These events included a welcome dinner and briefing prior to the Show, a VIP luncheon sponsored by a partner of the tradeshow organizer, opening ceremony and dinner, and a tour to Hai’er Group, China’s No.1 electronic manufacturer.

Senior Commercial Officer Craig Allen together with five staff, including Commercial Officer Cameron Werker, Commercial Specialist Marc Chu, Commercial Specialist Xianmin Xi and Commercial Assistant Xu Zheng participated the show.
