Venue:    Shenyang International Exhibition Center

Greetings from The Commercial Service in Shenyang, China!

The Commercial Service of the U.S. Embassy in Beijing is pleased to invite you to participate in the U.S. Pavilion at the 8th China International Equipment Manufacturing Exposition (CIEME 2009) at the Shenyang International Exhibition Center, September 1-5, 2009.

CIEME is a state-approved exposition sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce, National Development and Reform Commission, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and the Liaoning Provincial Government. It is jointly organized by Shenyang Municipal People’s Government, CCPIT Liaoning Sub-Council, Shenyang Renaissance International Exhibition Co., Ltd. etc. Having such strong support from the Chinese government is critical to ensuring excellent visitor traffic. Over the past seven years, CIEME has grown to become China’s foremost exposition for CNC machine tool, metal cutting equipment, industry automation, special & general equipment and construction machinery in northeast China. It is also one of the top five shows in China’s equipment industry.

While China’s economy will feel the impact of the global uncertainties, it is still expected to move ahead at a rate of 8-9% driven by exports and fixed asset investments. The unifying prediction amongst China watchers is that the Chinese government will sustain domestic growth with investments in infrastructure construction, and maintain its policy of strengthening the country’s industrial sectors such as aerospace and equipment manufacturing. In fact, the National Development and Reform Commission recently announced a Rmb4.0 trillion stimulus plan focused on infrastructure investment and other construction, while the Shenyang Aviation Park, which was approved by the NDRC in February 2008, is expected to be another demand center for aviation machine tools.

About 2008 CIEME:
• Total exhibition space of 60k sq meters
• Total of 554 exhibitors from 25 provinces, 18 countries
• Over 132,000 visitors and 31 provincial delegations
• Estimated trading value of Rmb4.325bn
• Media coverage by over 300 reporters from CCTV, Phoenix TV, People’s Daily amongst others

The central government’s “Revitalize the Northeast” initiative, first implemented in 2004, will continue to provide sound policy and financial incentives for Chinese enterprises to invest in fixed assets to modernize facilities and increase efficiencies. Such incentives have created a uniquely favorable market for U.S. machinery and equipment in northeast China. Shenyang’s national prominence in China’s industrial heartland makes it an excellent venue for U.S. machinery and equipment manufacturers to showcase their products and technology. According to the Liaoning Statistics Bureau, its imports of mechanical and electric products grew by 22.8% from Jan to June of 2008 to $4.9 bn. The CIEME is still an excellent platform to present your company and promote your products and services.

The Commercial Service of the U.S. Consulate General in Shenyang has successfully organized the U.S. Pavilions at CIEME from 2005 to 2008. Through our strong ongoing relationship with the show organizer, we have been able to continue to secure prime exhibition space amongst the nearly 1,800 domestic and international exhibitors. Of the U.S. exhibitors from CIEME 2008, 80% have already reserved space with CS Shenyang to exhibit at our 2009 U.S. pavilion, which is estimated to be double the 2009 exhibit space. Since we only have limited booths available, we welcome and encourage interested U.S. companies to contact us as soon as possible.

We welcome and encourage American companies to attend this high-level trade show. The U.S. Commercial Service in Shenyang will work to facilitate communication between American exhibitors and the show organizer in making arrangements to exhibit and participate in this important event.
